Photofacial is a non-abrasive and non-invasive rejuvenation of your skin using the remarkable new technology of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). IPL PhotoFacial technology can correct or erase the signs of photoaging, rosacea, sun damage, broken capillaries, and brown spots on the face, hands, and body. It is also used to reduce the appearance of mild acne scars, dark circles around the eyes, and to diminish fine lines around the eyes and mouth. The skin care specialist from SF Bay Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Dermatology applies a cold gel to the treatment area. The IPL Photofacial handpiece is then gently applied to your skin and emits pulses of light. When the pulses of light are applied to the skin, some patients report feeling some stinging, similar to a small rubber band being snapped against the skin. Therefore, we make sure to recommend that our patients apply an anesthetic cream to the area at home, or in the office, at least 30-60 minutes before the procedure.
Usually, it is recommended that patients undergo four to six treatment sessions, all lasting about 20 minutes each. This will provide you with beautiful, long-term results.
