  • Improves skin texture and tone, and radiance
  • Gentle and safe
  • In-office procedure
  • Short treatment time
  • Non-invasive
  • Minimal to no downtime

How many Fraxel® treatments will I need?

The number of Fraxel® treatments you should get will depend on the results you are trying to achieve, your skin type, the condition that is being treated, and how your skin responds to treatment. Clinical studies have shown that most people see maximum results in just 3 to 5 sessions, usually within a 4 to 6 week period.

When do Fraxel® results appear?

The results appear immediately and continue to progress. Soon after the treatment, you will notice that the surface of your skin feels softer and smoother, looks brighter, and has a more even tone. Improvement will continue over the next 3-6 months since the deeper layers of the skin will continue to create new collagen. Of course, the extent of how long your results last will depend on your lifestyle, age, skin condition, and personal skin regimen.

Do the Fraxel® treatments hurt?

At SF Bay Cosmetic Surgery Medical Group, we try to make Fraxel® treatments as comfortable as possible and apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure. We also use cold during the procedure to minimize discomfort. Many patients report feeling a sensation similar to a sunburn, which usually goes away within a few hours.

Who can be treated with Fraxel®?

Anyone can get Fraxel® fractionated laser skin resurfacing – it is safe enough to be used on all skin types and colors. And because we all have unique skin, genetic make-up, lifestyles, and personal history, the condition of our skin contributes to how our skin looks and feels. At SF Bay Cosmetic Surgery Medical Group, we help you create a treatment plan for Fraxel® skin resurfacing. This plan is developed to target your skin’s specific needs.

Any side-effects I can expect after the treatment? How long do they last?

Following a Fraxel® treatment, you may notice some redness and swelling. The intensity of these side-effects depends on how aggressive the treatment was. You should follow the recommended post-treatment practices, like applying ice, keeping the treated area moisturized, and more. Your unique healing characteristics can also affect your experience after the treatment, since everyone’s skin is unique. Some patients have greater than expected reactions when they have less aggressive treatments, while others have very few side-effects even though they had aggressive treatments.

How Fraxel® Works?

Fraxel®’s fractional laser technology penetrates deep beneath the skin’s surface to repair damaged skin cells by stimulating new cell production. This treatment is non-invasive and only requires topical numbing cream to enhance your comfort level during treatment. Results are immediate, and you’ll love how much softer, smoother, and brighter your skin’s appearance has become.
